Tom Speir
Tom Speir serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of United Community. In this role, he is responsible for the company's financial strategy, treasury, capital and strategic planning, investor relations, mergers and acquisitions, and overall financial performance. He’s also responsible for all accounting, financial and reporting activities for the company. He works closely with United's executive leadership team and board of directors to support the company's long-term growth and financial strength.
Speir brings more than 20 years of banking and financial leadership experience spanning treasury, balance sheet management, investor relations, strategic planning, and corporate development. He has led major strategic initiatives that have helped drive sustainable growth and strong financial performance. Before joining United Community, he spent nearly two decades with Regions Financial, where he most recently served as Executive Vice President and Head of Investor Relations, Strategy and Corporate Development. Prior to Regions, he held portfolio management leadership positions in Wachovia Bank’s treasury department.
Speir earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management with a concentration in Finance from North Carolina State University. He has also been actively involved in community and civic organizations, including Teach for America Alabama and United Way of Central Alabama.
Speir and his wife, Wynne, have three children and are active members of the Trinity United Methodist Church, where he has held various leadership positions. Their family is excited about joining the Greenville community.
