Abraham A. Cox
Abraham Cox serves as the Chief Consumer and Small Business Banking Officer at United. In this role, he is responsible for Mortgage, Retail Sales, Wealth, Product Management, Retail and Small Business Credit, Navitas, and Marketing.
He joined United in 2022 as the bank’s Chief Marketing Officer and has more than 25 years of experience in the banking industry. Prior to joining United, he served as Head of Mortgage Originations at Truist. He was chosen for the role in December of 2019, upon the merger of equals between BB&T Corporation and SunTrust Banks, Inc. Cox’s previous roles at Truist and its predecessor BB&T included executive and senior leadership roles roles in commercial, retail, and mortgage banking. He began his banking career in 2000 in BB&T’s Leadership Development Program, and has held various roles and served multiple markets and businesses across the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast.
Cox is a graduate of North Carolina State University and the Graduate School of Banking at LSU. Throughout his career, Cox has been active in numerous industry organizations, including the Boys Scouts of America, United Way, the American Heart Association, and the Mortgage Bankers Association.
