Richard W. Bradshaw
Richard Bradshaw serves as president of commercial banking solutions for United Community Bank. In this role, he oversees the specialty lines of business across the bank’s footprint as well as the commercial lending areas of middle market, asset based, income property, senior care, renewable energy and builder finance. He is also responsible for leading the bank’s Small Business Administration (SBA) Lending program.
Bradshaw brings nearly 25 years of banking industry experience to his role at United Community Bank, including more than 20 years dedicated to the SBA lending niche. Prior to United Community Bank, he served as the head of U.S. SBA programs at TD Bank and led the bank to become the 8th largest SBA lender in the U.S. Bradshaw also developed a successful SBA lending unit at Carolina First before it was acquired by TD Bank.
He previously served as president at UPS Capital Business Credit in Atlanta, Georgia. Under his direction, the bank tripled SBA origination volume and moved from 45th to the 9th largest lender during the SBA’s 2008 fiscal year. Bradshaw also held additional leadership roles at UPS Capital, including senior vice president of global sales and executive vice president of commercial lending.
At United Community Bank, in addition to SBA lending, Bradshaw oversees the specialty lines of business, including asset-based lending, commercial real estate, corporate banking, healthcare lending, and New Markets Tax Credit.
Bradshaw is a member of the board of directors and executive committee for NAGGL (National Association of Government Guaranteed Lenders). In November 2013, Bradshaw received the organization’s annual Distinguished Service Award, which is presented to an individual who made a significant achievement with regard to bettering small business. He was selected for the award primarily as a result of his dedication to veteran initiatives with NAGGL and the International Franchise Association.
Bradshaw is a retired, highly decorated commander in the U.S. Naval Reserve Intelligence Program and served five years of active duty as a captain in the U.S. Air Force. He graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in management and holds an MBA from Pepperdine University. Bradshaw recently served on U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham’s Selection Board for the service academies.
Bradshaw and his wife, Stacey, live in Greenville, S.C., and have three adult children. He currently serves as President of the Board of Directors for Greenville Literacy Association.
